At the age of 16 you can’t begin to think of what life could be like years ahead especially when you’re face with giving birth to a child. The road less travelled becomes the roughest road you could have turned on. Throughout this journey, you go through a lot of changes, danger seen and unseen, meaningful people cross your path that guide you without question yet leave you to figure out why you made the choices you made. In most cases you began to feel as if you’re in this world all alone because the friends you once had no longer have the desire to associate themselves with you. Depression sets in leaving you to think it will be this way for a lifetime. Guess what? it does….its been half of my life and when I look back at all the things I did to create a positive environment, all the time and effort I put into raising children avoiding harms way…all the teachings and preaching’s of the do’s and don’ts’s the why’s and why not’s. The effort I put into being the sole provider 20yrs later its time to let go….when it gets to the point where they think they know more…its time to let go. When they start to take you for granted. It time to let go….when they choose people over you in spite of what you’ve done to get them where they are …let go. When all is said and done, and there’s no more tears to shed, all the resources have been used up and disposed of. Yet, you feel you still have work to do as if you need to be there. Let Go!
When we were young, at some point we all took for granted what our parents had to go through in order to be the best providers they could possibly be. We wanted what we wanted regardless of the price, regardless of the time and effort, the great lengths they had to go thru to get it. And if we didn’t get it we got an attitude. Let Go!
I look at todays society and concluded that no one takes into account that they are responsible for they’re own actions. Everybody is doing this or that because everybody else is. Todays generation is:
To those of you parenting: don’t spare the rod. Be in control.
Not parenting: Enjoy your life, see and do all there is to do and accomplish. Become an positive example, become a big brother or sister in your community . Get involved with different programs see what single mom’s go through.
Most of all before you decide to become a parent or let it cross your mind. Get MARRIED! Let God be your guide.
